Re: BT, 1994 854 T-5
I'm afraid I'm not keen on the v70 front end
But we can't all like the 850 as much as I do
It's such a shame that its not going to be on the track at lydden this weekend
But hopefully when it does make it to a track we can have a little meet and all see how it goes

i'm keeping both front-ends, & making them both single piece so i can switch between the 850 & S/V70 oneRob wrote:I'm afraid I'm not keen on the v70 front end

i've still got some expensive mods to do on BT before she'll be on the road (Turbo Tuner & rods), but once she i'll be doing some track days hopefully so i'll have to bring her down

That's a good idea
Spare front end for the first meeting with the tyre wall

Re: BT, 1994 854 T-5
with work & lack of money i haven't worked on BT for a while, i am halfway thru taking the turbo off to get the uprated internals put in (a few bolts that won't shift holding me up lol). & did get the fuelling side of things sorted over the weekend, VXR injectors, 3.8bar regulator & thermal inlet manifold spacer fitted.
i had to change to a newer style fuel rail & the clip to hold the fuel pipe in place is different, anyone know the type i need & where to get one please

Re: BT, 1994 854 T-5
thanks, i'm guessing its this one i need. My next question, as mine is a one piece line without the nut coupling can it be converted to the newer style easily?Rob wrote:I'm sure I've got one

I'm sure if you had the nut you could just flare the pipe

Re: BT, 1994 854 T-5
no new pictures but have collected my new gearbox off JT who kindly got it built up for me. Its a 850 TDi gearing inside a T-5 casing (bellhousings are different on TDi) with my welded diff. Its going to be a while before i get to use it but hoping it'll make a big difference on the 1/4mile.
also got my 2005 93mm crank so the engine capacity will be a minimum of 2396cc now, its also lighter than the original 850 crank. Still not sure to risk going to 2.5

Re: BT, 1994 854 T-5
despite the 20t compressor housing arriving, i've now started to put BT's engine back to (nearly) standard. The idea being to get her on the road with stock engine & build up another engine to full spec to be swopped over

Re: BT, 1994 854 T-5
How's it going now mate?
Is there any chance it'll be done for the bhp show?
I'm having another club stand
Also I'm looking for some advice
Do you know how to set the timing for na cams?
I'm thinking of fitting some but there's so many different write ups on the net and I don't know what's best to do

timings apparently should be N/A intake cam must be retarded by 4 degrees, N/A exhaust cam must be advanced by 5 degrees.

Re: BT, 1994 854 T-5
I've got a vac tree
And I'm taking damos 15 off and putting a 16 on
So I'll have what you need
Give me a couple of weeks and I'll post em up to you
I'll try that for timing then
I'm sure it's not that far out
So do you think it'll make the bhp show??

Do you fancy helping me try and get a few more members on the forum
And maybe helping me moderate it?
I'm so short of time at the moment I could do with some help
That'll be more than payment for a few spares
A little cheeky I know but I can't help it

Re: BT, 1994 854 T-5
it does feel weird putting all the old stuff back on, but more parts collected & fitted today. I do need a idle control valve top hose & brake servo pipe if you've got one spare

Re: BT, 1994 854 T-5
more done again today. Inlet manifold removed & fitted properly using a gasket (i don't normally bother). Exhaust manifold put back, & yes with gaskets just need to get 1 washer as i lost it. Starting to look like an engine again, i did break the dipstick tho

it actually took me almost a month to get the manifold off, so too get it so far back on is a miracle lol. Just hope the turbo goes on easilyRob wrote:Looks like you're getting there

if you've got a dipstick to hand it would be appreciated, lost count how many i've been thru during BT's time
